‘My Perfect Proposal’ Winner

CONGRATULATIONS TO Daniel McCartney who is our summer issue’s ‘MY PERFECT PROPOSAL’ WINNER!

On Monday 10th March earlier this year at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, former Westlife front man Shane Filan played to a full house for his brand new ‘You & Me’ Tour.

However this time, his second concert as a solo artist in Northern Ireland, the 2,000 plus crowd witnessed a little something extra towards the end of the show.

Calico Jacks and former Energy 106 DJ Danny Dee had put plans in motion through Aiken Promotions and Shane’s Tour Manager Liam, to try and get Shane himself to help Danny propose to his girlfriend live on stage.

During the show, Shane had asked if anybody would like to join him up on stage for a song at his make shift bar O’Fialains. It was at this point Danny’s plan started to take shape, as Shane singled out Charlene and brought her up on stage. She sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink poured by Shane, all whilst he sang his famous song “Mandy”. Very romantic it was too.

Meanwhile, Tour Manager Liam had grabbed Danny and escorted him back stage where he was to wait for his cue. At the end of the song, just as Charlene was getting ready to leave, out popped Danny from behind the curtains. Shane said to Charlene, “I think you know this fella”, and then handed Danny his radio mic.

Charlene was gob smacked! She had no idea this was coming, and the look on her face was priceless. Danny then proceeded with his speech, “Charlene. I love you so much, you’ve no idea. Your beautiful, funny, sexy and you make me laugh on a daily basis. I have no idea what I would do without you. If you give me the chance, I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make you as happy as I am”.

He then dropped down on one knee and asked the question, “Charlene… will you marry me?” At which point the crowd went absolutely bonkers! She said yes, thankfully! Followed by some hugs, a kiss, a bunch of flowers and a bottle of champagne from Shane himself.
